A review of Pronuptia by Irked written on Tuesday 15th of September 2015
Our experience with Pronuptia was not a happy one. That was nearly a year ago and, as I have never posted a negative review, I hesitated to do so. However, the bad taste left by our experience has prompted me to get it out of my system. I see from other reviews that our experience is not an isolated one. We bought four bridesmaid dresses because my daughter had already selected the make and style online and Pronuptia was the only place locally which was a stockist. The initial trying on for my daughter and her older sister was a good experience and within a couple of days (early May) a deposit was paid, dimensions provided for the other three bridesmaids and the dresses ordered. There were a number of problems. Conflicting messages about the arrival of the dresses, (wedding was in October and by mid September I was getting a bit anxious); lack of empathy about the problems of having 3 of the bridesmaids in different parts of England needing to book flights for dress fittings. Failure to inform my daughter that the "navy" colour she chose from a dress in the showroom and not a swatch would be different to the satin colour "navy" the dress was ordered in. Because I was afraid that the dresses would not come in time for the shoes to be dyed to match, I asked for a piece of material to go ahead with the dyeing of the shoes. Wrong material provided and shoes needed to be redyed to match. This redyeing to a lighter, bluer shade failed and new shoes were purchased and dyed. The additional expense was in excess of £300. Jackie initially verbally agreed to pay for the re-dying of the shoes - but at the end of the day gave no compensation at all and failed to reply to any emails or correspondence. Once she had our money - which we had to pay in full when the dresses came in - she had no further interest. On a positive note - Dawn the recommended dressmaker was wonderful and the dresses (and the shoes) were perfect on the day.
